>The Return of "Uncle P.P."

February 9, 2008

>Our good friend D.P. spent a few days with us in the Alps after being in Sweden and Poland for work. D.P. had never been sking, so he took a few lessons while Anne-Laure and I conquered the mountain.

The evening was spent playing with Theo (D.P. is his new, favorite toy), before sitting down to great cuisine and conversation. As always, his visit was too short, but I know he was happy to return to Austin after such a long trip.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 10 years since our UT days…

>A Good One

A colleague of mine sent me this joke…

I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes.

We decided to grab a bite at the food court. I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, and blue. My dad kept staring at him.

The teenager would look and find him staring every time. When the teenager had enough, he sarcastically asked, ‘What’s the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?’

Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response; knowing he would have a good one. And in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response.

‘Got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son.’

> Theo’s new thing is walking around in my shoes (or his mom’s…though I prefer him in mine). He has gotten rather good at manoeuvring around without tripping. This show of athleticism may lead him to a career as a track and field star…or possibly a clown.

Here’s another nice shot from the Alps…

>Another Beautiful Weekend…

January 21, 2008

>Anne-Laure, Theo and I went to the Alps for the weekend. The weather was wonderful and the powder was perfect. Theo spent most of the time with Mamie and Papy sledding and sleeping, while Anne-Laure and I were on the slopes.

The only downfall was the traffic; it took three and a half hours to return to Lyon (normally only a two-hour trip). Yuck.
