>Knox, September 1998-April 2009

April 14, 2009

>It is with regret that I announce the passing of Knox. It is never easy losing a pet, especially one as unique as him. Mostly lab, but having a spot of spaniel, a bit of beagle and a measure of miscellaneous, Knox was a loyal dog that led an adventurous life. In the almost 11 years he was with us, he experienced three cities, two countries and one transatlantic crossing. Rescued from a North-Atlanta-suburb animal shelter as gift for Anne-Laure, the pup was named Knox in honor of Knoxville, the city where we met. As he grew from fluffy mutt to cuddly monster, he was our constant companion on camping trips, road runs and couch snuggles. Regardless of the situation, Knox was always there to jump in our joys of happiness, lick our tears of sorrow or stand fast to calm our fears. Every moment marks one in some way and my time with Knox is no different. Though the images of throwing sticks and tossing balls will remain, it is not the memory that will surface the most. It is of how we aged together. He was there when I grew from being single, to becoming a spouse and finally a father. From our boundless energy shared in the beginning, to the grey hairs mirrored at the end, the remembrance that we made this passage together will always remain intact.

Rest in peace, my friend, rest in peace.
