>La Fête des Lumière

December 9, 2005

>Yesterday was “la Fête des Lumière” in Lyon. Thousands of candles illuminate the city every 8th of December. The festival is to pay hommage to the Virgin Mary for whom it is believed saved the town from the Black Plague in 1643. This is a shot from our terrace.

This past Sunday, I had a small Thanksgiving with my in-laws, friends Phil and Claire, and my second cousin Berl Oakley. Berl was in Paris on a lecture tour and was able to fit in a quick trip to Lyon. It was a Franco-American menu consisting of foie gras, turkey, potatotes au gratin, green beans, cheese and chocolate. Of course, all of this was washed down with good wine (a ’95 Pomerol that was outstanding).

On the previous Wednesday, CEFAM held its Thanksgiving extravaganza. Click here to download pictures of the meal and the party.
